New Orleans Cemeteries

They are among the most beautiful I have ever seen. Ever since I can remember, and long before my first ever digital camera, I have had a strong desire to go to the city to get some shots in the cemeteries there. I’m sure most people wouldn’t find them beautiful, but they captivate me, completely and entirely. Maybe someday soon, I can visit a few. Especially this one, since it not only captivates, but intrigues me due to the mere fact that some filming from Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire was done there…

BFF Rodeo Days

I just came across this pictures of these boys*. It’s from May 2007 at a local Bull Riding / Barrel Racing event. I love finding pictures that reflect on their friendship over the years, and I know someday they will love that I have so many of them when they were kids. I have friends today that I have had since I was N’s age, and it’s an amazing thing to remain friends that long. I wish that for my son. That, and many new, wonderful friends along the way. Somehow though, the comfort of someone who has known you since childhood is something that is irreplaceable. It’s a comfort, and a treasure.
I adore this picture of them. Even though you can’t see their faces, you can see the bigger picture – the bond of friendship (and two little boys who at that moment, wanted to grow up and be bull riders). I can’t tell you enough how much I love watching my son form these friendship bonds.
*Just in case you happen to not recognize them from my previous posts, it’s N and his friend.
Summer Thunderstorms
I have lived in South Louisiana for the better part of my 33 years on Earth. I was born and raised here, and you would think I would be used to the way things just happen… like random late afternoon thunderstorms. However, it never ceases to amaze me how we can go from one extreme to the next… within an hour… I’ll let the pictures tell the story…
flower photos
The flowers are starting to wilt and die with all of this unbearable heat we have down south. I am glad I got some pictures of some of our flowers before their downfall… I’m just sharing them with you, not a huge blog about them. Just pictures that pleased me with the way they turned out, and I thought you might enjoy.

summer afternoon thunderstorms
Our day started off bright and sunny… I cut grass while N played on the porch so we could see each other. It was hot! When I was almost done I yelled for him to go get his swimming trunks on and meet me at the pool. Man, that pool felt so good after cooking in the hot midday sun while cutting grass. About 20 minutes into our swim, the bottom fell out of the sky and it was pouring down rain on us. We got out of the pool (you know, so we wouldn’t get wet! haha) and ran to the porch. The sun was shining, but it was rainy… and as I looked around, I realized this might be a great time to get some good shots of my boy. I think I was right, because I cranked out these – due in part to staying up most of the night reading Hey Jules and learning many, many new ways to do things with my camera.

Rainy days are so boring.
It’s a good thing these southern summer thunderstorms are random, sporadic and short lived.

I wish I had done something with his eyes before finalizing the processing on this picture, but then again they have that glassy look to them just like they naturally do when the sun hits them….

Hold up. What is this? Is this a smile from me wee angry one?
I guess the “Don’t smile” trick still works wonderfully. Ah, the joy of being all knowing Mom!!

I love that I’m still his main girl. Because he’s definitely my main boy.
pink and innocent
I almost cannot stand how stinkin’ adorable this picture is! I love the little boy in the pink helmet – I especially love that he obviously hasn’t reached the age yet to CARE that the helmet is pink, much less that it has flowers on it! And what’s better than a girl that loves a boy who is brave enough to wear pink (and flowers)… ?? Nothing, I tell you. Nothing.
My new goal is to everyday, appreciate someone else’s photography. In addition to that, everyday I am going to (try to) learn something new in photoshop, hopefully with a picture taken the very same day, and post it. Everyday. That is my solemn vow.
You can’t hold me to it though. It’s my blog, I make the rules. Remember?
