pink and innocent

friends, originally uploaded by reinn.

I almost cannot stand how stinkin’ adorable this picture is! I love the little boy in the pink helmet - I especially love that he obviously hasn’t reached the age yet to CARE that the helmet is pink, much less that it has flowers on it! And what’s better than a girl that loves a boy who is brave enough to wear pink (and flowers)… ?? Nothing, I tell you. Nothing.

My new goal is to everyday, appreciate someone else’s photography. In addition to that, everyday I am going to (try to) learn something new in photoshop, hopefully with a picture taken the very same day, and post it. Everyday. That is my solemn vow.

You can’t hold me to it though. It’s my blog, I make the rules. Remember?

Sadie, seriously?

was caught off guard yesterday evening when while Inside Edition was blaring on the T.V. I heard familiar names - not just familiar names, but familiar names that really caught my attention: Susan Atkins & Charles Manson.

If you know me, you know why. If you don’t, you might think I’m a little off my rocker, and/or be delightfully surprised to know that I have somewhat of a mild (okay, not quite “mild”) fascination/obsession with Charlie and the whole Manson Family thing. Yes, I know it’s strange. Yes, I’m aware that my time could be better spent. However, it’s something I’m powerless over. I’ve been fascinated with him/his followers since the dawn of time (in my world, anyway). There is nothing strange or weird about it to me, it’s a real fascination. It comes as naturally to me as breathing.

Anyway, enough of that. You get the picture - I’m slightly overcooked. Deal with it!

So the story is, Susan Atkins is dying of brain cancer (although I’m pretty sure they said brain tumor on IE). She has less than 6 months to live and seeks a “compassionate release” from prison so she can die a “free woman”.

Really? No kidding? Sadie Mae wants compassion? Wait. No, really. She IS serious? Okay, now I’ve got my listening ears on….

As I sit and listen to the story of how she has had a leg amputated, and has terminal brain cancer (and how she is conveniently married to an attorney) I’m in awe that this woman (and I use that term loosely) has the audacity to even consider such insanity! I mean, have you seen the crime scene photos? That’s not something that ever, ever leaves your mind… I honestly don’t even know how she can live with herself on a daily basis, much less think she deserves to be a “FREE woman” even one day left of her miserable little life.

I’m even more stunned that this request is actually being considered! If anyone should be free for a day, my vote would be for Uncle Charlie himself. I don’t think he’s half as crazy as his “family” - what kind of person follows someone the way they followed him? Don’t crucify me over that one - I mean c’mon. Blame Charlie all you want, but these were adults with freedom of choice. They chose to follow him. He just happened to be a little nutty.

I am interested to see what happens here. I’m interested on a bigger playing field than just what I think should or shouldn’t happen - I want to watch it play out, to see what her real intentions are because I don’t think her rap sheet proves that she’s as honest and rightous as she would like people to believe.

I’ve got to hand it to her though, she’s put up one hell of a fight. And the girl has got some balls!

Maybe I’m just delirious, because you know, I’m a total insomniac…

I am so in love with this picture, and so jealous that I didn’t capture it. How beautiful is this? I want it. On a platter. In a frame. In a box. It’s all the same.

The Girl

  • profileHowdy! I'm the girl that writes here. This is where I organize my thoughts, and document the real life experiences of me and my son. You will find crazy funny stories, obsessively photoshopped pictures, some random yet awesome links, craftacular stuff, creative frugalness, and strong opinions here. Grab a drink, maybe one on the rocks, and sit for a spell. Oh, and read. This is a blog, after all!
