summer afternoon thunderstorms

Our day started off bright and sunny… I cut grass while N played on the porch so we could see each other. It was hot! When I was almost done I yelled for him to go get his swimming trunks on and meet me at the pool. Man, that pool felt so good after cooking in the hot midday sun while cutting grass. About 20 minutes into our swim, the bottom fell out of the sky and it was pouring down rain on us. We got out of the pool (you know, so we wouldn’t get wet! haha) and ran to the porch. The sun was shining, but it was rainy… and as I looked around, I realized this might be a great time to get some good shots of my boy. I think I was right, because I cranked out these - due in part to staying up most of the night reading Hey Jules and learning many, many new ways to do things with my camera.

Rainy days are so boring.

It’s a good thing these southern summer thunderstorms are random, sporadic and short lived.

I wish I had done something with his eyes before finalizing the processing on this picture, but then again they have that glassy look to them just like they naturally do when the sun hits them….

Hold up. What is this? Is this a smile from me wee angry one?

I guess the “Don’t smile” trick still works wonderfully. Ah, the joy of being all knowing Mom!!

I love that I’m still his main girl. Because he’s definitely my main boy.

pink and innocent

friends, originally uploaded by reinn.

I almost cannot stand how stinkin’ adorable this picture is! I love the little boy in the pink helmet - I especially love that he obviously hasn’t reached the age yet to CARE that the helmet is pink, much less that it has flowers on it! And what’s better than a girl that loves a boy who is brave enough to wear pink (and flowers)… ?? Nothing, I tell you. Nothing.

My new goal is to everyday, appreciate someone else’s photography. In addition to that, everyday I am going to (try to) learn something new in photoshop, hopefully with a picture taken the very same day, and post it. Everyday. That is my solemn vow.

You can’t hold me to it though. It’s my blog, I make the rules. Remember?

Santa’s Secret Shop Follow Up

I know you have been dying from the curiosity of what my gift was from Santa’s Secret Shop that N did manage to not forget to buy… well, he was quite proud of it…

Remember, his gift was $5 (for himself), and the dogs gift was also $5. His father and I shared I think $3 for both of our gifts….

My son, bless his heart, bought me a whoopee cushion for Christmas.

Finally, I have my own “whoop that crack”……….

The Girl

  • profileHowdy! I'm the girl that writes here. This is where I organize my thoughts, and document the real life experiences of me and my son. You will find crazy funny stories, obsessively photoshopped pictures, some random yet awesome links, craftacular stuff, creative frugalness, and strong opinions here. Grab a drink, maybe one on the rocks, and sit for a spell. Oh, and read. This is a blog, after all!
