Snaggletooth Photoshoot

I took these pictures before N lost his other front tooth, but I wanted to share them because they are my new favorite pictures of him.

A few days after these pictures, we went to my friends house and his daughter came out and was going to hug N, in which case he darted off because you know, girls have cooties!! Well, she’s10, and she caught him and took him down… face first… he came up  with a mouth full of blood, and was completely fine until HE saw the blood (he goes grey at the sight of cartoon blood, no kidding).

I told him the only way to stop the bleeding was to just pull the tooth all the way out (it was barely there, and gushing blood). I had no idea if this was true or not, but the faith of a child is amazing - he yanked the tooth out, and whaddya know, the bleeding stopped! Now I have to get some new pictures of him with the missing front teeth, because I simply adore it. It’s the cutest thing I have ever seen. Besides this….

He did so well with this photo shoot. Believe it or not, it lasted only minutes.. and I promised him that if he would just look at the camera, just LOOK at it every so often, I would take pictures of him doing whatever he wanted when we were done…

Maybe I’m biased, but do you see those eyes? They melt me straight to the core of my being. Why is it that boys always get the most beautiful eyes and eyelashes? Oh wait, I know the answer to that…

Anyhow, it was killing me - the way the light was reflecting in his gorgeous eyes, so I had to get as many shots as possible. Once I was sure I had at least a handful of decent ones (the ones I’m showing you are my favorites!), I let him do his thing…. I cannot speak for him, I can only say in his defense, he is my son, and he is 6 years old. Here is his pose of choice…

Makin’ Memories

Saturday was a good day.

We started bright and early with L and her daughter and did a few hours of garage sales. We didn’t walk away with much, but it was still good times. Then N had a soccer game. After that, we (N and myself) headed to the Parish Fair for a little Mommy & Me time. It was long overdue.

N is not necessarily one to ride rides, and strangely enough, I am okay with that. Not really strange at all - I don’t like riding rides. Especially the ones at little fairs like this. I did my time suffering through the rides with L back in the days of Junior High School - I am done. N has apparantly inherited the lack of love for rides from me, because his father loves them. Still, I am okay with this fact. I’m more than okay with it - at least I’m not forced to ride them with him.

So, it goes without saying that we spent most of our time on games. Well, N spent his time playing games, I spent mine encouraging him, cheering him on, and snapping photos of him. The boy certainly loves to play some games. He doesn’t even care so much about the prizes - thank goodness, because they really suck. He had a real blast going from game to game and very quickly emptying my pockets. It was worth every penny though, to me, to see him have such a good time. And on top of that, we were making memories together, and nothing can replace that.

Once my pockets were nearly empty, we got snowballs and walked around to sightsee a little. We ran into a few people we knew, chit chatted a bit, and carried on. Eventually we found our way to the cows. Man, did it ever stink!! However, I wanted a picture of Noah with a cow or two in the background, and he was very hesitant… He wouldn’t back up anymore than he already was, so I backed up some (I had cows behind me, too!), and managed to snap this picture right after he realized that the cow behind him was kind of eyeballin’ him…

I love that picture. The pure excitement on his face embodies the day for me. This little trip to the rinky dink Parish Fair holds memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life, and I hope he will, too.

The Spongebob Tooth Trick

Just when I didn’t think my boy could get any cuter, he goes and proves me wrong. It started two days ago with this…

Which, okay, I admit… it’s not all that cute - the Spongebob tooth, I mean. That’s what it reminds me of… but, you see it poking out? The end result is what’s cutest. Just bear with me…

In all honesty, this kind of freaked me out. I suspect that the way I overindulged him by acting a complete fool when he did this little Spongebob Tooth Trick is the underlying reason why he held on dearly to it for TWO WHOLE DAYS.

He loved doing it… I would scream, and pretend to shudder and start yelling “Get that tooth outta there! C’mere, Let me get it! Oh stop, stop! You’re killing me! I’m going to faint!” And he would double over into a fit of laughter. But really, I might have fainted. There’s something very… unnatural about this… kid… of mine…

Finally!! We were sitting at the kitchen table, I was doing some Twilight chatter across the table with L, and N was eating dinner and all of a sudden “MOM!!” and I looked and if it’s possible for the tooth to be any MORE loose than it already was, it was. Trust me. It was STILL there. I started my panic screaming and L chimed in and I guess with both of us being absolutely chaotic and mildly retarded together, he decided to pull it. Then we whooped and hollared, and he was a happy camper.

But back to the cutenss factor… I’m totally diggin’ the snaggletooth look on my boy. Mostly because, I’m dreading those two front teeth coming in… hopefully he won’t have inherited his mother’s ability to grow teeth the size of chiclets in his mouth.
