I Love Rock N Roll (Jesus)

I have a new CD in my car that has taken up permanent residence. At least temporarily. It’s Kid Rock’s Rock-N-Roll Jesus, and it rocks my world. I realize I have posted about my meeting with Kid Rock before, and while I don’t mean to seem obsessive, yes.. I am posting about him again. Why? Well, let’s just say I’ve never really given him a chance. I never disliked him, but I was quite indifferent.

Things they are a changin’ around these parts, folks. I’m now offically, obsessivly loving Kid Rock and his music.

Just for starters, he is kind of hot. In a very bad boy, white trash kind of way - which is apparently just how I like them. (source: my track record)

He has won me over. I have no willpower anymore when it comes to him, his lyrics, his F you attitude, and his body. So, I’m going to dive into my favorite songs on the album, because… well, because I think you should know. And if you secretly enjoy [explicit lyrics] then you will really love this album. It’s chock full of songs you can totally enjoy when there are no kids in the car.

My favorite songs on the album are, in no particular order …

  • All Summer Long (obviously, this is what made me purchase the CD)
  • Sugar - I love the lyrics, definately a top pick for me. I crank this one up really, really loud and sing until I almost lose my voice.
  • So Hott - this one is good and dirty, and makes me smile :) It also gets cranked up very loudly.
  • Don’t Tell Me You Love Me - this song, for some reason, reminds me of Dennis. I love it.
  • Blue Jeans and a Rosary - I just like the simplicity of this one, it’s sweet.
  • Lowlife - this song could be about most men I have known in my life… nearly all of which live in this town.
  • Half Your Age - A great F YOU song, no doubt.

So, go listen. It’s worth it, especially if you love a little bad boy rock n’ roll. In which case, I do. This cd is wonderful for me going to and from work, it’s a real wake me upper! Highly recommended (from me, because you know I have exceptional taste in … um… everything!!)

P.S. - My late appreciation for Kid Rock has me really ticked off, because he is on tour now and wouldn’t you know, he kicked off his tour right here in New Orleans. Everyone in town went, I didn’t even notice. Sometimes being a late bloomer really sucks!!

Election ‘08

Barack Obama. President Elect of the United States of America.

did you?, originally uploaded by mlephotos.

What else is there to say? I don’t know what to say. I’m virtually speechless, even though I knew in the pit of my soul that he was going to be the next President. My emotions are all over the place. I get way to involved in politics, even though I do my best not to discuss my views with others - mostly because they are MY views, and I never want to be perceived as someone who tries to push my views onto someone else. I never, ever wanted to discuss politics here, so I’m not. I’m venting briefly, and moving on. I hope…

John McCain has my utmost respect. In my humble opinion, he ran a classy and truthful campaign. He’s a man of great honor, and I’m sorry to see he won’t be in the White House this term.

Congratulations to Obama and all of his supporters. Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m going to vomit.

The Twilight Saga

All I want to know is - are you reading the Twilight saga? And if you are not, for crying out loud, WHY?? It may be labeled as Young Adult, but oh-what-ever…. it’s good stuff. Great stuff. What are you waiting for?

If you are reading - have you read the whole series? What are your thoughts? (Wait - I am just starting Eclipse today, so keep that in mind - don’t spoil it for me pleeeease)….

Are you anxiously awaiting the movie release? Or are you concerned about the movie not being as good as the book? That is usually the case.

I was a bit disappointed to “see” Edward Cullen … I had a completely different image of him in my mind…

I was thinking of something a little more…

Because you know, Ethan haunts my dreams… however, I supposed he is a little too old to be playing a 122 yr old vampire stuck in a 17 yr old body…. but hey, that’s what imaginations are for… I think he would be a perfect vampire. Can you imagine? Give him some fangs and a mic to sing some Violent Femmes.. yumm! Count me in! (if you don’t get it, go rent Reality Bites… and get a clue already, will ya?)

Ok, I got sidetracked. Sorry.

Anyway, in the words of L …. READ THE DAMN BOOK ALREADY!!

vampire ideology

I think I have just allowed myself a new addicition. The Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. My lovely friend L has been bugging me to “read the damn book already” and finally, I did. I was not aware that it was a vampire story, otherwise I’m quite sure I’d have already read it. However, given the immense taste difference when it comes to books between L and myself, I was cautiously concerned that this Twlight vampire story may just ruin it for me.

You see, I have always been an avid, borderline obsessive fan of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. I owned them all, and read them each quite a few times. I’m sad to say that I ended up selling them all in order to replace them with the harcover versions, and have not done so yet. Now, I’m sure it will happen sooner rather than later because my fascination with the vampire world has totally, completely resurfaced.

So, L likes to read stuff like… Nora Roberts … Things like that are on my TICS list. Sorry, no offense. Just not my style. So, you can imagine my caution. The last thing I wanted was some sordid, sappy Fabio-like vampire to completely F up my own personal idealization of vampires.

However, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did I love and adore the book (which I bought and read from cover to cover in under 36 hours), but I have fallen in love.

Yes, I know… I twittered recently about Dean McDermott, and my love and adoration for him.

I may be addicted to the idea of love. Just maybe.

Because today, I am madly in love with Edward Cullen.
