Tuesday Tidbits
- Yesterday, I fixed my dryer. Let me tell you, it was a real learning experience! For 3 months I have had to dry my clothes THREE times to get them dry. Needless to say, it made doing laundry even more so a never-ending task than it already is. (not to mention, it completely F’d my electric bill) I mentioned to friends my problem, they offered suggestions. So, after squeezing my not-so-small bum behind the dryer, unscrewing the back, making sure it wasn’t clogged up on the inside, readjusting the duct, I decided to go outside and make sure hot air was blowing out. I was afraid to stick my hand under the vent in case there was a creature there (someone mentioned snakes, that did me in) so I tapped it, then kicked it (kicking things usually works for me). Kicking this, it worked. The vent had a COVER on it! It fell off, and after a POOF of lent… Viola! I did 4 loads of laundry last night, all of which were dry in about 30 minutes. I was happier than a pig in shit
- Today, I came home anxious to finish up my laundry pile. I have never been so excited, and felt so accomplished, by doing laundry! However about 3 minutes into it, while reloading the washer, the back of the dryer went POP and sparks flew and the dryer cut off. Oh shit. I just knew my apartment was about to burst into flames! I immediately unplugged it, and kicked the dryer and screamed “Okay, you win! YOU WIN! I hope you’re HAPPY!” and texted my friend and told him I was SO over this dryer! An hour later, I decided oh no mister dryer, you do not win… no, you do not. So I put the back of the dryer back on, readjusted the duct, flipped the breaker back on, and VIOLA! The dryer is working again! I’m still scared of it though… still holding my breath…. but I won’t let this… this… object… defeat ME! Not today.
- Yesterday I signed up to be an Avon Representative. I’m pretty excited, because I love Avon products. And I’m pretty hopeful that it will help this single mom make ends meet. I’m not looking to get rich, just hoping to add a little extra to an already nearly non-existent income.
- N will be spending his regularly scheduled upcoming weekend with his father. He decided early on he “doesn’t want to celebrate Halloween this year” and I have not pushed the issue. I’m a little sad that he seems to have outgrown it, but at the same time respectful that he doesn’t feel the need to go with the masses. Aside from that, I am bummed because I don’t like giving up or missing any.single.holiday with him. However, he and his dad are going to be attending Hallelujah Night at the church they attend on their weekends together, so I’m sure he will still have fun. While I wander around, lost, looking for a child to scream “Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet” with… okay, not really. I think I’ll be judging a costume contest. That should be interesting.
sifting through the backpack…
While going through my sons backpack from school last week, I came across these gems and just had to share….

My favorite part of this is 11, 12 and 13….
11. Nothing is wrong with his arm.
12. Somewon… has a serious problom (this is undoubtedly something he heard his mother say)
13. I promise, nothing is wrong with his arm!

The cutout of the cat cracked me up… but it gets better….

That’s right… this cat has to pee cuse it is snowing. And it’s outside.
Big kudo’s to my boy for proper apostrophe placement!
& the crown…. what creativity

And this? WOW!
