divorce cakes rock
This past weekend I went to a co-worker’s birthday/divorce party. He is also in a band that I have been doing some graphic design work for, and am doing photo shoots of as well. I got a few pics of them playing on the lakefront, but the lighting was bad so I struggled with them during post-processing (which really pissed me off).
A few weeks ago I came across divorce cakes online, and bookmarked a few in my del.icio.us account. Once I found out this was his divorce party also, I couldn’t wait to call the best bakery around to see if they could hook me up with a divorce cake! They laughed (a lot) on the phone at me, but it turned out great. I told them I wanted a wedding cake gone wrong, or something with a lot of blood and the groom MUST be triumphant.

It was a hit! It was cute as it could be, and the “groom” loved it. I’m happy it went over well. I love when things work out… unlike that photo shoot (uggh!)…

I hope my new camera comes in before their next gig. I just know I will get better pictures, because I’ll have more freedom when it comes to the camera settings. Oh, that’s another post. I’m trying to follow the rules of everything I have been schooling myself on via everyone else’s blogs, however my current camera is quite limited. I’m just over it. I need freedom with a camera, and I hope mine comes.. today!!
worth a thousand words
Because it really is true. And this picture deserved it’s very own blog entry.
A picture is worth a thousand words is a proverb that refers to the idea that complex stories can be described with just a single still image, or that an image may be more influential than a substantial amount of text. It also aptly characterizes the goals of visualization where large amounts of data must be absorbed quickly.
officially hating myspace css
I am overwhelmed. Consumed. Trapped. Obsessed. Angry. Frustrated. Determined.
Why, you ask?
Because I am in the process of attempting a myspace layout for a band, and I am not happy. Anyone can make a layout work, but I want to create one from the ground up, without restrictions, that sings.
Just working is not good enough for me. A standard layout with custom graphics does not work for me.
I see them all OVER myspace, the fabulous off-the-chart layouts created by professionals, so I KNOW it can be done. I just have to figure out how. And I don’t want to start from scratch, because why reinvent the wheel? Obviously the secret to coding a layout on myspace has been cracked, I just have to find where it has been exposed.
Yes, I want a cheat sheet! Do you know where to start? My google and yahoo searches aren’t pulling much up, other than myspace layout generators and that is NOT what I want. I want to be able to create, then code around what I have created. I do not want to have to create according to a pre-written code.
Does that make sense?
Geez. Somebody help me, please. I’m in a desperate place right now! I need this to occupy my mind until my spiffy new camera gets here (so I can get shots of the band to incorporate into their myspace layout that is totally going to kick major ass because you are going to help me find that ever elusive cheat sheet). Right?
BFF Rodeo Days

I just came across this pictures of these boys*. It’s from May 2007 at a local Bull Riding / Barrel Racing event. I love finding pictures that reflect on their friendship over the years, and I know someday they will love that I have so many of them when they were kids. I have friends today that I have had since I was N’s age, and it’s an amazing thing to remain friends that long. I wish that for my son. That, and many new, wonderful friends along the way. Somehow though, the comfort of someone who has known you since childhood is something that is irreplaceable. It’s a comfort, and a treasure.
I adore this picture of them. Even though you can’t see their faces, you can see the bigger picture – the bond of friendship (and two little boys who at that moment, wanted to grow up and be bull riders). I can’t tell you enough how much I love watching my son form these friendship bonds.
*Just in case you happen to not recognize them from my previous posts, it’s N and his friend.
